MT 2 (Melanotan II) is a synthetic cyclic α MSH analog with the sequence Ac Nle cyclo[Asp His D Phe Arg Trp Lys] NH2. It acts as a nonselective melanocortin receptor agonist and is commonly used to study melanocortin GPCR activation, including cAMP mediated signaling in receptor expressing assay systems. MT 2 is used in receptor pharmacology research investigating melanocortin subtype activity, ligand structure activity relationships, and downstream transcriptional effects in vitro.
